I've never been charged with anything stronger than a misdemeanor here and there, did an occasional couple of days in county jail, not proud of that, but I am not a felon or wanted.

I would try Canada if fleeing from the law before Mexico

spent quite a bit of time down on gulf side a few years back.. I litterly ran into no trouble for months or feared anything.. sure a few checkpoints in certain areas, but the coastline from south of Cancun all the way to Chetumul was fine... stayed in Chetumul for like 3 months working , and had no problem going out at night either.. quite a few Americans hanging out.. its on the border of Belize..... I think the Pacific side has more drug routes. But it is true about border towns and the Guadalajas and Monterreys you should stay away from
